Synopsis

After a brief introductory clip showing the U.S. Olympic Women's Synchronized Swimming team in competition at the Pan American Games in 2007, the scene dissolves to San Francisco's Bayview district where the women, under the direction of their choreographer, Stephan Miermonte, practice a spectacular lift/flip at the Martin Luther King Jr. pool. The scene shifts again to the S.F. Circus Center across from Kezar Stadium, where we meet swimmers Kate Hooven and Kim Probst and their circus coach, Luyi. Wearing harnesses for safety in this cavernous building, the team members practice lifts and tricks under the watchful eyes of circus-acrobat teachers as they develop complex routines they will later take to the water.
